Halloween, candies and children

Three things almost inseparable … We also know that one of the reasons why children expect this holiday, apart from wearing their “spooky” costumes, is to taste countless sweets.

It is not that I am against celebrating Halloween, what worries me a lot is the amount of refined sugars to which children are exposed.

My recommendation is that you dose the amount and allow them to eat only that day and the next. Others can throw them away. Although it sounds extreme, they do not work and they do not need it.

There is scientific information that suggests that the intake of refined sugars, in any of its forms, causes inflammation in the brain, so there is less oxygenation and is one of the reasons why children do not stop moving, because the brain it sends signals to the heart so that it can beat faster and pump more blood to reach its normal level of functioning, which obviously translates into the child’s hyperactivity.

I wish we could make a campaign to deliver healthy foods during the “Trick or Treat”.
